2023 “Call for Sites”

Following the 2022 Judicial Review Judgment and its associated Order, Somerset Council held a “Call for Sites” across the former Mendip District in September 2023. It invited detail of new housing sites or confirmation of the availability of sites previously submitted.

In NSP, 10 sites were submitted. These can be seen here.

9 of these sites were subjected to sustainability appraisal by Somerset Council. The remaining site, NSP018, was screened out as the 2 houses proposed was under the threshold of 6 set by the Council as the minimum suitable for consideration for meeting the need to allocate the “505” dwellings required by LPP1.
